Family Discovers Rare Megalodon Tooth on Sea Isle City Beach
An 11-year-old boy, Bo Bowers, and his father, Mike Bowers, made a remarkable discovery on a beach in Sea Isle City, New Jersey. While searching for shells, they unearthed a fossilized tooth from a megalodon shark, one of the largest sharks to have ever lived. The tooth was found wedged in a rock jetty. Experts from the New Jersey State Museum and the Cape May Whale Watch and Research Center confirmed the authenticity of the find, noting its exceptional condition. Daniel Iovino of the Cape May Whale Watch and Research Center stated that such findings are rare along the New Jersey coastline. Megalodons, which were estimated to be 50 to 60 feet long, have been extinct for over 3 million years. The family, from western Pennsylvania, plans to keep their prehistoric souvenir.
