Rep. Judy Chu Advocates for ICE Accountability Amidst Local Demonstrations
Representative Judy Chu has expressed her support for peaceful demonstrations in Pasadena, which demand justice for the deaths of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Joan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, both killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers. Chu has been a long-time critic of ICE, highlighting issues such as violence, abuse, and lack of accountability within the agency. She has called for the closure of the Adelanto ICE Processing Center due to its poor conditions and preventable deaths. Chu, along with nearly 200 Democratic colleagues, is pushing for an independent investigation into the deaths of Salgado Araujo and Guerrero, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability in ICE operations.
