USPS Celebrates Route 66 Centennial with New Stamp Collection
The United States Postal Service (USPS) has unveiled a new collection of stamps to commemorate the centennial of Route 66, a historic highway that has become a symbol of American culture and history. The stamps feature images captured by photographer David J. Schwartz, who has traveled the route 42 times over two decades. The collection includes eight stamps, each representing a different state along Route 66, showcasing iconic landmarks such as vintage diners, gas stations, and motels. The stamps aim to capture the essence of Route 66, known for its role in American history as a major transportation route and its cultural significance as a symbol of freedom and adventure.
