Japan Expands National Strategy for Physical AI with New Infrastructure and Collaborations
Japan is advancing its national strategy for physical artificial intelligence (AI) through a government-backed initiative to establish a national AI infrastructure. Announced at Nvidia's AI conference, the initiative includes collaborations with domestic manufacturers and robotics companies to accelerate industrial automation and AI development. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) is supporting the FRONTia Project, which aims to develop multimodal foundation models for robotics and physical AI. Japanese companies are leveraging Nvidia's platforms for applications in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and more, positioning Japan as a leader in intelligent machine development.
