Santa Barbara County Workforce Development Board Organizes Free Youth Career Summit for Skill Building
The Santa Barbara County Workforce Development Board is hosting a free youth career summit on August 6 at the Allan Hancock College Fine Arts Complex in Santa Maria. This event, organized by Operations Manager Alyssa Stovall and her team, is aimed at young individuals aged 14 to 20. The summit will provide attendees with opportunities to explore career paths, gain industry insights, and potentially win scholarships. The event will feature breakout sessions, a keynote presentation, and industry panels covering sectors such as healthcare, technology, and education. Participants will also have the chance to engage with employers and learn about soft skills, interviewing techniques, and career pathways. The board, which serves over 25,000 residents annually, aims to connect job seekers with employers and provide skills training, using mostly federal funding.
