U.S. Coast Guard Suspends Search for Missing Saipan Crew Members
The U.S. Coast Guard has officially suspended its search for the missing crew members of the cargo vessel Mariana, which encountered a disabled engine approximately 140 miles northwest of Saipan on April 15. The search, which lasted over 100 hours and covered more than 135,000 square nautical miles, involved multiple international and U.S. military partners. The six crew members aboard the vessel at the time of the incident were Frederick L. Nosek Jr., Landon Delos Reyes, Jose L. Ramirez, Mohammed A. Rahaman, Chet R. Brochon, and Vincent B. Agulto. One deceased individual was recovered by U.S. Air Force 31st Rescue Squadron divers. Despite extensive efforts, the search was called off, with Cmdr. Preston Hieb expressing condolences to the families and the Saipan community.
