One Billion Acres Campaign Launches to Accelerate Regenerative Agriculture Transition by 2030
The 'One Billion Acres' global impact campaign officially launched during New York Climate Week, aiming to transition one billion acres worldwide to regenerative agriculture by 2030. This initiative, born from the Golden Globe-winning documentary 'Groundswell,' unites governments, brands, farmers, investors, and NGOs. The launch included commitments for 66 million new acres, with over 40 million acres specifically in U.S. farmland and rangeland, moving towards regenerative management. Participating brands include Nespresso, Maker's Mark, and Applegate, among others. Regenerative agriculture focuses on restoring carbon, water, and nutrient cycles to enhance soil health, improve water and air quality, and boost biodiversity and resilience. The campaign emphasizes public tracking of progress and recognizing leadership in this transition.
