California Allocates $2.5 Billion for Transportation Projects, Enhancing Statewide Infrastructure
Governor Gavin Newsom's office announced a significant allocation of nearly $2.5 billion for over 150 transportation projects across California. This funding is part of a broader fiscal year 2025-26 transportation budget totaling approximately $13.8 billion. The projects include state highway work, public transit, local streets and roads, active transportation, and intercity rail projects. Notable allocations include $257 million for mobility hubs in southwest Los Angeles County, $99 million for the Whiskey Creek Bridge renovation in Shasta County, and $64 million for work on Interstate 215 in Riverside County. This announcement coincides with ongoing efforts to advance California's high-speed rail project, which aims to connect Los Angeles and San Francisco, despite facing delays and funding challenges.
