East Texas Couple Disputes Deputy's Account After Dog Shot During Wrong-Address Warrant Service
An East Texas couple, Tatyana Carrion and Zachary R. Bounds, is disputing the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office's account of an incident where their dog, Terry, was shot and killed by a deputy. The incident occurred last Thursday when deputies were executing what they described as a high-risk felony warrant at the couple's home, which was the wrong address. Carrion states that her 11-year-old greyhound/whippet mix, Terry, came out to greet the deputies in a 'happy-go-lucky' manner and did not lunge. The sheriff's office, however, claims the dog 'pushed past the individual in a protective manner and lunged at the deputy,' leading the deputy to discharge his firearm in self-defense.
