Heat Advisory and Air Quality Alert Issued for Connecticut
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory and an air quality alert for parts of Connecticut on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The heat advisory is in effect for Hartford, Tolland, and Windham counties from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Heat index values are expected to reach up to 96°F (36°C). Additionally, an air quality alert has been issued for most of Connecticut, with ground-level ozone levels anticipated to be unhealthy for sensitive groups, including children, the elderly, and individuals with preexisting conditions such as asthma or heart disease. The air quality alert is active from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Tuesday.
