Florida Bill to Establish Permanent Cybersecurity Support for Local Governments
Florida's legislature has passed House Bill 1085, which aims to formalize state-provided cybersecurity support for local governments through the Local Government Cybersecurity Protection Program (LGCPP). The bill, awaiting the governor's signature, would provide cybersecurity software and services to municipalities in exchange for sharing telemetry data with the state's cybersecurity operations center. This initiative builds on previous state-funded grants and seeks to enhance local governments' cyber defenses. The program is set to run until July 1, 2031, and reflects a shift towards a more centralized approach to cybersecurity in Florida.
