Starbase Texas to Establish Police Department for SpaceX Asset Protection
Starbase, a SpaceX company town in southern Texas, is planning to establish its own police department to protect SpaceX assets. The city commission has approved a resolution to create a municipal police force, pending approval from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. The department is expected to hire around eight officers and be operational within a few months. This move follows Starbase's incorporation as a city last year and the establishment of other public services, such as a volunteer fire department. Previously, Starbase contracted with the Cameron County Sheriff's Office for law enforcement services, but challenges in recruiting deputies led to the decision to form a local police department.
