San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie Proposes New Office to Centralize City's Food Security Efforts
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie has introduced a measure to establish a new Office of Food Security Coordination within the Human Services Agency (SFHSA). This initiative aims to centralize the city's currently fragmented approach to addressing food insecurity. As of 2023, nine different city agencies were involved in running food programs, despite over 70% of the funding already being channeled through SFHSA.
