Massive Nine-Alarm Fire Engulfs New Jersey Warehouse, Spreads to Nearby Structure
A significant nine-alarm fire erupted in northern New Jersey, devastating a two-story warehouse and spreading to a second building. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon in Belleville, prompting a large-scale response from multiple firefighting agencies. Firefighters were dispatched to the 300 block of Cortlandt Street after reports of a rapidly spreading blaze. Upon arrival, they encountered intense flames engulfing a brick warehouse, leading to an escalation to a nine-alarm response. This drew mutual aid from surrounding municipalities, including Newark, Nutley, and North Caldwell. Embers from the main fire reportedly ignited a second structure two blocks away on Stephens Street, where crews also worked to contain the blaze. Despite the severity of the fire, no serious injuries have been reported, and the cause remains under investigation.
