University of Panama's New Rector to Focus on AI and Infrastructure Development
José Emilio Moreno, the newly elected rector of the University of Panama, is set to assume office on October 1, 2026. Moreno plans to modernize the university by introducing new academic programs, including a focus on Artificial Intelligence, and completing ongoing infrastructure projects. His agenda includes strengthening ties with the government and securing additional funding to support these initiatives. Moreno, who previously served as the academic vice-rector, aims to enhance the employability of graduates by expanding professional practice opportunities and incorporating complementary certifications, particularly in languages.
