Chemical Fire at Sonic Construction Site in Star, Idaho, Prompts Evacuations
A chemical fire at a construction site in Star, Idaho, led to evacuations and the temporary closure of State Street. The fire was ignited by a spark from a drill, which set off two 55-gallon drums of methyl methacrylate, a chemical used for flooring. The incident occurred in the parking lot of a new Sonic restaurant under construction. Emergency crews, including the Ada County Sheriff's Office and Boise Fire Department's hazmat team, responded promptly and managed to control the fire within 33 minutes. No injuries were reported, although the restaurant sustained some damage.
