Ghanaian Ministry Awards Damang Mining Lease to Engineers and Planners, Ensuring Continued Economic Contribution
The Ghanaian Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has granted the Damang mining lease to Engineers and Planners, a mining services provider. This decision follows a tender process where Engineers and Planners emerged as the successful bidder, meeting all mandatory requirements and demonstrating access to financing above the $500-million threshold. The lease was previously held by Gold Fields, which is set to transfer ownership to the government of Ghana on April 19. The Ministry, led by Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has approved the recommendation and directed the commission to take necessary regulatory steps to implement the approval. Engineers and Planners have proposed measures to extend the life of the mine beyond ten years, showcasing their capability to operate the Damang mine effectively.
