Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Host Sixth Annual Million Meal Pack Initiative, Distributing Over One Million Meals to Combat Food Insecurity
The Atlanta Hawks and State Farm recently hosted their sixth annual Million Meal Pack event at State Farm Arena, mobilizing over 5,000 volunteers to assemble more than one million meals. This initiative aims to address food insecurity across metro Atlanta. The event, which is the Hawks' largest single-day community service effort, saw participation from Hawks players, executives from both organizations, community leaders, and various volunteer groups. The packed meals, totaling 1,002,402, will be distributed to local partners such as the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Hosea Helps, Midwest Food Bank, the Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta, and Sweetwater Mission. According to the Atlanta Community Food Bank, one in eight Georgians, including one in six children in their service area, experience food insecurity. This year's event also maintained State Farm Arena's TRUE Zero Waste Platinum certification, diverting over 90% of materials from landfills.
