National MS Society Launches $1 Billion 'Campaign to End MS' to Accelerate Research and Patient Support
The National MS Society has initiated a $1 billion fundraising effort, dubbed the 'Campaign to End MS,' aimed at accelerating research breakthroughs, expanding access to patient care, and providing support for individuals and families affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). This five-year campaign, launched on October 1st, is described as the most ambitious in the organization's 80-year history. At its launch, a gala in New York City raised over $12 million for MS research. The campaign seeks to help approximately 1 million people in the U.S. living with MS receive earlier diagnoses, access timely treatment, and find necessary support. MS is a neurodegenerative disease where the immune system attacks the brain and spinal cord, leading to symptoms like fatigue, movement issues, vision problems, and cognitive difficulties, for which there is currently no cure.
