Calaveras County Elections Office Omits Democratic Candidates from Voter Guides, Prompting Reprint and Calls for Review Process
Calaveras County's Elections Office has acknowledged a printing error in voter information pamphlets that omitted two Democratic candidates: Michael Masuda, running for the U.S. House 5th Congressional District, and Jaron Brandon, a candidate for State Senate District 4. The corrected pamphlets will be mailed to affected voters as soon as possible. The county emphasized that this error was confined to the voter information pamphlets and did not impact ballots or voters' ability to cast their votes. Photos of the incorrect pamphlets show that the congressional candidate-statement section contained statements from incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Tom McClintock and Michael J. “Mike” Barkley, who finished third in the primary, instead of Masuda.
