Fayetteville Announces Water and Sewage Rate Increases Effective August 1
The city of Fayetteville, Georgia, has announced an increase in water and sewage rates, effective August 1. This adjustment is part of a long-term plan to upgrade and maintain the city's aging water infrastructure, which dates back to the 1930s and 1940s. The rate increase is expected to be modest, with most residents seeing an increase of $1 to $2 on their bills. The city council had previously approved a plan in August 2025 to incrementally raise rates over five years, aiming for a total increase of 5% by the 2030 fiscal year. This initiative is intended to fund necessary repairs and replacements to ensure the reliability of the water system.
