Family Accuses ICE of Medical Neglect Following Detainee's Death in New Jersey
The family of Edwin Lopez-Cornejo, a 41-year-old Salvadoran man, is accusing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) of medical negligence following his death at Delaney Hall, an immigration detention center in Newark, New Jersey. Lopez-Cornejo, who had several underlying health conditions including epilepsy, high blood pressure, and diabetes, died after reportedly not receiving adequate medical care. His family claims that the detention center staff failed to properly administer his medications. ICE stated that Lopez-Cornejo received appropriate medical care and was seen by medical professionals. The family is calling for transparency and an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
