George Soros Foundation Commits $300 Million to Support Democratic Rights in the U.S.
The Open Society Foundations, led by Alex Soros, has announced a $300 million commitment to initiatives aimed at defending democratic rights and enhancing economic security in the United States over the next five years. This move comes amid criticism from President Trump's administration, which has accused the Soros family of fostering division and supporting violence. Despite these accusations, the foundation remains steadfast in its mission, with Laleh Ispahani, managing director for the U.S. at Open Society Foundations, affirming their continued efforts. The foundation's strategy includes supporting state-level policies that protect vulnerable groups and promote a fair economy for the working class. Already, $20 million has been allocated for 2026 to support strategic litigation and efforts to track government corruption.
