Cornwall Concert Supports Hurricane Relief Efforts in Jamaica
A fundraising concert is set to take place in Penzance, Cornwall, to support relief efforts for those affected by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica. The event, featuring the Latin and Caribbean band Kizamba, aims to raise funds for ShelterBox, a Truro-based charity. ShelterBox has been actively involved in providing aid to Jamaica, working with partners like Food for the Poor and Rotary to deliver essential supplies such as shelter kits, thermal blankets, mosquito nets, and solar lights. The charity had pre-positioned supplies in Barbados before the hurricane season, allowing for a swift response. Additional aid, including tarpaulins and ropes, is being sent from their warehouse in Panama. Kat Carr, the lead singer of Kizamba, who has personal ties to Jamaica, initiated the concert to raise awareness and support for the ongoing recovery efforts.
