Irregular Sleep Patterns Linked to Increased Heart Attack and Stroke Risk
A study from the University of Oulu in Finland, published in BMC Cardiovascular Disorders, finds that irregular sleep patterns and sleeping less than eight hours per night significantly increase the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), such as heart attacks and strokes. The research involved over 3,000 adults and highlighted the importance of maintaining a regular sleep schedule for heart health. The study aligns with CDC recommendations for adults to get at least seven hours of sleep per night, noting that a third of U.S. adults fail to meet this guideline.
