Pakistan Government Challenges Supreme Court Order to Transfer Imran Khan to Private Hospital
The Pakistani government has filed a review petition against a Supreme Court order directing the transfer of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital, a private facility, for medical treatment. The Supreme Court had ordered prison authorities to move Khan from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail within two days and mandated the formation of a medical board including his sister, Uzma Khan, and personal physician, Faisal Sultan. Additionally, the court allowed Khan weekly family meetings and bi-weekly phone calls with his two sons in London, while prohibiting public discussion of his health by his family, party, and lawyers until September 16.
