Ukraine and Russia Accuse Each Other of Ceasefire Violations Amid Easter Truce
A temporary ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, intended to mark the Orthodox Easter, expired with both nations accusing each other of numerous violations. The ceasefire, which lasted 32 hours from Saturday afternoon to Sunday evening, was marred by accusations from both sides. Ukraine's armed forces reported 2,299 violations, including assaults and drone launches, while Russia's defense ministry claimed 1,971 violations by Ukrainian forces. Despite the ceasefire, Russian forces continued their attacks, and Ukrainian military positions were targeted. The truce, ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin and proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, was intended to provide a brief respite along the 1,200km frontline. However, the expected calm was not fully realized, with both sides continuing to engage in hostilities.
