EU Sets New Guidance Values for Mycotoxins in Animal Feeds
The European Commission has released updated guidance values for key mycotoxins in animal feeds, including deoxynivalenol, zearalenone, ochratoxin A, T-2 and HT-2 toxins, and fumonisins. This update follows years of research and scientific opinions from EFSA, reflecting a shift from focusing solely on toxic effects to considering overall animal health. The new recommendations, effective from July 2027, include more categories such as aqua species, equines, and rabbits, and acknowledge the use of mitigation measures when guidance values cannot be met.
