New Mexico Lawmakers Frustrated with Slow Behavioral Health System Rebuild
New Mexico lawmakers have expressed frustration over the slow progress in rebuilding the state's behavioral health system. The effort, initiated by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham's signing of the Behavioral Health Reform and Investment Act in 2025, aims to address gaps in the system following a previous administration's actions that led to the withdrawal of several providers. The state has been divided into 13 regions, each tasked with developing plans to meet local needs. However, only two regions have had their plans approved, leading to confusion and calls for a more coordinated statewide approach.
