Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Intensifies Traffic Enforcement in Louisville Neighborhoods
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) has significantly ramped up its traffic enforcement efforts in Louisville neighborhoods, school zones, and areas with a history of fatalities. This initiative, which reignited a dedicated traffic enforcement division late last year, focuses on residential areas rather than expressways. The increased presence follows rising complaints from residents about speeding and reckless driving. For instance, the Lake Forest Community Association, after experiencing close calls and resident complaints, contacted Sheriff David James, leading to an immediate deployment of deputies. Since April, JCSO deputies have issued 1,500 citations and over 600 warnings, indicating a substantial increase in enforcement activity. The JCSO emphasizes that patrol areas are not chosen randomly but are based on community input, often channeled through Metro Council members.
