Antares Gains DOE Approval for Mark-0 Nuclear Reactor Demonstration
Antares, a California-based advanced nuclear energy company, has received approval from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for the Documented Safety Analysis of its Mark-0 reactor. This approval confirms the DOE's acceptance of the reactor's final design and safety case. The Mark-0 reactor is part of a broader initiative to accelerate the deployment of nuclear power technology, with a goal of achieving criticality for at least three advanced reactors by July 4, 2026. Antares is now entering the DOE Readiness Review process, the final phase before the reactor's pilot startup. The company plans to achieve criticality for the Mark-0 reactor before July 4, 2026, as part of the DOE's Reactor Pilot Program, which aims to deploy 400 GW of nuclear power generation capacity by 2050.
