Qatari Prime Minister Highlights Critical Moment in Gaza Ceasefire Amid Ongoing Tensions
Qatar's Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, has stated that the Gaza ceasefire is at a 'critical moment' as the first phase concludes. This statement was made during a conference in Doha, where he emphasized the role of international mediators, led by the U.S., in advancing to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement. The initial phase, part of a peace plan by President Trump, involved a halt in fighting and the exchange of hostages. However, the ceasefire has not yet led to a full withdrawal of Israeli forces or stability in Gaza. Recent violence includes an Israeli airstrike that killed two Palestinians, although the Israeli army has denied awareness of this specific strike. The next phase of the peace plan involves deploying an international security force in Gaza, forming a new government, disarming Hamas, and potentially withdrawing Israeli forces.
