Home Instead Survey Highlights Importance of Self-Care for Older Adults' Wellbeing
A recent survey conducted by Home Instead, a company specializing in in-home care for older adults, reveals that physical self-care routines significantly contribute to the confidence, happiness, and emotional wellbeing of individuals aged 65 and older. The survey, part of Home Instead's 'A Better What's Next' campaign, involved 1,000 older adults and 1,000 caregivers in the U.S. and Canada. Findings indicate that 90% of older adults believe self-care positively impacts their daily lives. Those who engage in regular grooming and beauty routines report higher happiness levels, increased confidence, and a stronger sense of identity. The survey also underscores the critical role caregivers play in maintaining these routines, with 95% of caregivers observing improved moods in older adults when assisting with self-care activities.
