Florida School Bus Driver Faces 29 Felony Child Neglect Charges After Train Collision
A school bus driver in Florida, Yvonne Hampton, has been charged with 29 felony counts of child neglect following a train collision that endangered the lives of 29 children and an adult. The incident took place at the intersection of E Central Avenue and N Market Street in Bushnell on April 2. The Sumter County Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff Pat Breeden, announced the charges and emphasized the severity of the situation, noting that the driver's poor decisions could have resulted in fatalities. The investigation was thorough, with the Sheriff's Office working closely with the school board, which provided video footage that was crucial to the case. In addition to the child neglect charges, Hampton faces one count of endangering an adult.
