Department of Justice Inspector General to Audit Compliance with Epstein Files Transparency Act
The U.S. Department of Justice's Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has announced an audit to assess the department's compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act. This legislation, enacted last year, mandates the release of all DOJ files related to Jeffrey Epstein, with certain exceptions. The audit will evaluate the DOJ's processes for identifying, redacting, and releasing records as required by the act. The DOJ has faced criticism for missing deadlines and improperly exposing victims' information. The audit comes after the House oversight committee subpoenaed former Attorney General Pam Bondi, who was later ousted by President Trump, to testify on the DOJ's handling of the Epstein investigation.
