Springfield Receives State Grant for Lake Springfield Recreational Upgrades
The City of Springfield has been awarded a $199,800 grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to enhance public access and infrastructure at Lake Springfield. This funding is part of the Illinois Boat Access Area Development Program, which aims to improve boating and canoe access across the state. Planned upgrades at Lake Springfield Center Park include a new walking path, a motorboat dock, a canoe launch with 12 boat slips, and improved parking facilities. These enhancements are designed to increase safety, accessibility, and traffic flow, making the area more attractive to both residents and visitors.
