Senator Gillibrand Introduces Bill to Combat Spotted Lanternfly Threat in NY
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has introduced a bipartisan bill aimed at combating the invasive spotted lanternfly, which poses a significant threat to New York's agricultural industry, particularly vineyards. The Spotted Lanternfly Research and Development Act would designate the insect as a high-priority research initiative for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This designation would direct additional federal research towards developing new methods to detect, manage, and control the spread of the pest.
