U.S. Coast Guard Ends Search for Cruise Crewmember Overboard Near Cape Cod
The U.S. Coast Guard has concluded its search for a crewmember who fell overboard from the Norwegian Breakaway cruise ship off the coast of Wellfleet, Massachusetts. The incident occurred on a Saturday night as the ship was returning from Bermuda. A camera captured footage of the man falling from an upper deck, prompting the ship to reverse course and initiate a search. The Coast Guard joined the effort with a helicopter aircrew. Despite these efforts, the search was called off by Sunday afternoon. Norwegian Cruise Line expressed its condolences to the crewmember's family, emphasizing the safety and well-being of its crew as a top priority. Man-overboard incidents on cruise ships are rare but often fatal, with the cause of this particular incident still under investigation.
