OpenAI has announced a $1 billion cybersecurity program, offering subsidized access to its advanced AI models over the next six months to help organizations defend against AI-enabled cyberattacks. This initiative, part of its existing Daybreak program, aims to provide discounted access, technical assistance, and training. The program prioritizes critical infrastructure sectors such as utilities, governments, regional banks, nonprofits, and open-source maintainers. Notably, crypto exchanges and blockchain networks are not directly prioritized, though open-source crypto projects may still qualify. This strategic allocation reflects OpenAI's focus on protecting foundational software and systems that underpin significant digital value, rather than individual commercial entities within the crypto space.
