Russian Intelligence Allegedly Recruits Bucha Resident for Sabotage, Deepening Distrust
In Bucha, Ukraine, Bohdan Tymchenko, a 21-year-old resident, was allegedly recruited by Russian intelligence to carry out sabotage attacks against his own country. Ukrainian investigators believe Tymchenko was approached by a Russian handler through an online video game chat and guided via Telegram to assemble and plant explosive devices outside his apartment. The incident, which involved two bomb blasts, injured two police officers and has heightened concerns about Russian tactics in Ukraine. Tymchenko, who comes from a military family, claimed he was blackmailed, with threats made against his mother. Ukrainian authorities have identified over 800 citizens recruited by Russia for similar activities, aiming to spread fear and distrust.
