Born in St. Louis in 1943, Corkery pursued a career in law, earning his degree from Northwestern University School of Law in 1967. He became a well-respected figure in the legal community, serving as dean and later dean emeritus of the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. Beyond his legal career, Corkery was a passionate performer, participating in the Chicago Bar Association's annual 'Christmas Spirits' show, where he showcased his wit and creativity.
