IAEA Reports North Korea's Significant Expansion in Nuclear Weapons Capacity
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reported significant advancements in North Korea's nuclear weapons capabilities. According to IAEA Chief Rafael Grossi, North Korea has likely added a new uranium enrichment facility, increasing its ability to produce weapons-grade material. This development is part of heightened activity at the Yongbyon nuclear complex, which includes a five-megawatt reactor, a reprocessing unit, and a light water reactor. The IAEA's observations, supported by satellite imagery, indicate a rapid rise in nuclear activities, suggesting North Korea's nuclear program may now include a few dozen warheads. Grossi emphasized the seriousness of these developments, noting the construction of a new facility similar to Yongbyon's uranium enrichment halls. Despite these advancements, the IAEA has not found evidence of Russian technology being used in North Korea's nuclear program.
