FDA Classifies Peanut Recall in 19 States Due to Banned Sweetener
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified a recall of roasted peanut products distributed across 19 states, following the discovery of a banned sweetener, cyclamates, in the products. The recall, initiated by Super World Trading Inc. in February, affects Mei Heong Yuen Walnut Flavor and Garlic Flavor Roasted Peanuts. The FDA has now assigned a Class III risk level to the recall, indicating that the products violate federal regulations but are not likely to cause adverse health consequences. The recall involves 595 cases of the affected products, which were distributed to states including New York, Texas, and Florida.
