Miami Boat Explosion Sends 11 to Hospital, Investigation Underway
A suspected boat explosion at a Miami sandbar resulted in at least 11 individuals being hospitalized with burns and traumatic injuries. The incident occurred on a charter boat carrying approximately 14 people. The explosion was reported around 12:45 PM, according to Juan Arias, the Miami Dade fire rescue battalion chief. The cause of the explosion remains unclear, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is conducting an investigation. The Haulover Sandbar, a popular destination for spring breakers and vacationers, was the site of the incident. Witnesses, including local businessman Patrick Lee, reported seeing people being thrown from the boat amidst a cloud of smoke.
