Israeli Government Launches Housing Program for IDF Reservists Amid Mobilization
The Israeli government has announced a significant housing initiative aimed at making homeownership more accessible for IDF reservists. Over the next two years, 20,000 housing units and plots of land will be offered under preferential conditions, with discounts potentially exceeding NIS 500,000 (approximately $167,000) per beneficiary. This program, presented by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Housing Minister Haim Katz, and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, will make 16,000 apartments available through the government's 'Target Price' scheme, along with approximately 4,000 plots of land for single-family homes. The initiative is a response to strong demand, as evidenced by a recent lottery where 25,354 reservists registered, with 4,734 securing housing. The program aims to help reservists cope with rising real estate prices and achieve homeownership.
