First Lady of Seychelles Launches 'Boys Connect' Initiative to Empower Young Men
The First Lady of Seychelles, Mrs. Veronique Herminie, has launched a three-day national initiative called 'Boys Connect.' This program aims to enhance the education, resilience, and character of young men in Seychelles by leveraging digital technology and community partnerships. The official opening took place at the NSC Hall, attended by Vice President Sebastian Pillay, Minister for Youth and Sports Ms. Kalsey Belle, and other dignitaries. The initiative addresses concerning trends among Seychellois boys, including academic underperformance, mental health challenges, and increased vulnerability to substance abuse and social pressures. Forty-five boys, aged 13 to 15, from public secondary schools across Seychelles are participating in the camp. They will engage in sessions covering online safety, artificial intelligence, GIS mapping, drone technology, cybersecurity, and positive masculinity.
