Pakistan has been acting as an intermediary, passing messages between the U.S. and Iran. The ceasefire, which is due to expire soon, may be extended, but Iran has threatened retaliation due to a new U.S. blockade of Iranian ports, which has severely impacted Tehran's oil sales. The Trump administration has deployed additional troops to the region, reinforcing the blockade and preparing for possible ground operations if talks fail. President Trump has expressed a desire to end the war, stating that Iran is eager to make a deal.
