Geomagnetic Storm Watch Issued, Northern Lights May Be Visible in Ohio
The Space Weather Prediction Center has issued a geomagnetic storm watch for June 4-5, due to three coronal mass ejections expected to impact Earth's magnetic field. This storm, rated at level 3 out of 5, could disrupt power systems and radio waves, potentially pushing the northern lights into the United States, including Ohio. The aurora borealis might be visible as far south as Lake Erie, depending on the storm's intensity. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's aurora forecast suggests that if the storm strengthens, the northern lights could be seen further south across Ohio. Weather conditions in Ohio vary, with partly cloudy skies in Akron, mostly clear skies in Columbus, and increasing clouds in Cincinnati.
