Queen Elizabeth Comforted Prince Edward's 'Terrified' Teenage Friend at Sandringham
Queen Elizabeth II once comforted a 'terrified' 14-year-old Tanya Rose, a school friend of Prince Edward, during a visit to Sandringham House. Tanya Rose, now a PR expert, recounted the experience on Amanda Wakeley’s Style DNA podcast. She described feeling overwhelmed and alone when, after dinner, the ladies of the Royal Family, including Queen Elizabeth, Princess Margaret, Princess Anne, the Queen Mother, and Princess Diana, retired to another room, leaving her, a non-family member, among them. Recognizing Tanya's nervousness, Queen Elizabeth reportedly showed her 'motherly instincts' by doing impressions of her groom and being 'so sweet' to her, immediately putting her at ease. Tanya also recalled the extensive dress code required for the four-day visit, which necessitated purchasing numerous outfits, and a humorous moment involving King Charles and Prince Philip regarding salt and sugar.
