Indiana Department of Natural Resources Recovers Stolen Trackchairs for Disabled Hikers
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has successfully recovered a pair of all-terrain trackchairs that were stolen from Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis. These trackchairs, valued at approximately $25,000 each, are designed to assist individuals with mobility limitations in enjoying public lands. The DNR had acquired 45 such trackchairs, along with portable generators, for distribution across state parks and inns using grant funding. The theft occurred between April 30 and May 1, during which six agency buildings were forcibly entered and vandalized. In addition to the trackchairs, two Vietnam War-era helmets were also stolen and remain missing. The DNR has expressed gratitude to those who provided information leading to the recovery of the trackchairs. A $5,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible is still active as the investigation continues.
